This radio was SO insanely easy to install
This radio was SO insanely easy to install. True double DIN fit. Took under an hour, which included removing the old radio and soldering all the new wires. It sounds great with my speakers and the lights are not obnoxiously bright. Though, if you think they are, you're out of luck because they cannot be dimmed. The display is easy to navigate and for the most part it's logical. The bluetooth connected easily, and I've been told the mic picks up relatively well, but I do get some minor disruption during calls. I'm using a 16GB card in the SD slot and haven't tried it yet with a larger card. The radio reads the card well and there is no delay. The only real downside to this radio is the interaction with the SD card. First of all, you can't browse a folder. The second you do, the song will change. So there is no fiddling finding a track, you navigate out of the folder or keep skipping until you get what you want. Also, it doesn't recognize subfolders. I intended to use this as an ipod alternative where I would have a grouping by artist and within that folder would be albums. Easy enough to do that--just copy and paste a couple itunes folders on to the SD card, right? Wrong. Instead, the radio reads each individual subfolder all within one level. It's not the end of the world, but it's something to be aware of. It's also slightly annoying that the track info doesn't stay still. I'd prefer if there were a way to lock it on track name after it's scrolled through the info once. Instead, it continuously scrolls for the entire duration of the song... kind of irritating to see that out of the corner of your eye constantly. And, if you're actually looking for info, it's like watching the TV Guide Channel: if you miss what you're looking for, good luck catching it on the next time around. The issues I have with the SD function are definitely personal preference and overall I'm very happy with this radio.

Great head unit.....if you don't mind some bugs.
So this Boss 824uab head unit works great in my 2005 Toyota RAV4. I bought it back in August of 2015 along with some Boss 12" subs and an amp, the whole thing works beautifully and sounds amazing. I took off one star because there is some cracking in the higher frequencies when using the Bluetooth audio function, if you're like me it makes a difference, but I delt with it by just plugging into the aux jack. Also it doesn't fit perfectly into my double din panel, but that's toyotas fault. The last thing is that in cold weather, it loses 12v power sometimes and resets all my settings and configurations, but not a big deal. I love my Boss head unit and it's served me well, the large display, buttons, and UI make it easier to control it without taking my eyes off the road. The DIY install was a breeze; I could even use the mounting brackets that came with the stock Stereo. Overall, great unit and I'd buy it again anytime.

The lights are very, very bright, and they ...
The lights are very, very bright, and they are in most parts just ornamentals. The only light that's not very bright it's in the display, that's really hard to read on daylight... Reception on AM frequencies is inexistent, and is weaker on FM compared to the original stereo (Clarion) on my Outlander. That said, bluetooth works very well. The CD, SD, USB and AUX work as expected, As my main objectives were bluetooth, low attractiviness to thieves and don't have a TV screen on the dash to distract drivers this stereo is ok for me. If those reasons are not for you go for something else. EDITED ON NOV/04/2016 For about two months now the radio suddenly losses bluetooth connection for no reason. My commute it's about one hour, and it happens at least 2 times every day. Tried on 2 different Android and in a WIndows Phone. It just resets for no reason too, sometimes while you're driving, and loses stations memory, clock settings and, of course, bluetooth settings. It happens about two times a week. All the power and audio connections where checked and resoldered to be sure that there's no installation problem. As bluetooth is the most important function for me i'll be replacing this stereo soon.

Nice radio
Radio works great and sounds good for the price. Bluetooth stays connected great. Use it to make phone calls is fine I just have to speak up a little. My only problem is it was to be a direct fit in my car and was not I had to use old radio brackets and drill new holes it bracket until radio set in dash right

This radio has really nice sound with no amplifier attached
This radio has really nice sound with no amplifier attached. Has sub control and the hands free bluetooth works well. My iPhone 6 connected easily and the audio both in and out of the system sounds fine. I believe the microphone is integrated into the front panel of the head unit. I paired this with a set of Boss speakers and it does the job. Not a drop in fit for my 1997 F150. Required a little dremmel work on the plastic behind the original radio to fit. The factory bezel (the one with the AC vents and pass airbag control) fit over the radio with no alterations for me. Looks very nice once complete.I used the Metra 95-5818 mount kit and the Metra non premium sound harness for this and both worked well with this unit.

Bluetooth call audio was great. FM radio quality is not.
Was an exact fit for our 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. Initial thoughts: Bluetooth audio on calls is great. Reception of local radio stations is poor, compared to the factory radio we're used to. The factory radio seemed to do a better job of smoothing out the stations that have lower signal. The audio is a little bass heavy, or maybe haven't found the right tweak yet, but overall sounds good. The remote is essentially useless for me because the angle of the radio face tilts up just a bit, so my hand at rest on the arm-rest is physically too low to get the signal to the unit's sensor. If your primary reason for getting the radio is to listen to your own music from your phone and to be able to have hands-free calling, then this radio will surely get the job done, especially for the price. However if you really care about local radio stations and sound quality of those stations, then you should probably try a different product.

A disappointment from the start-toothless bluetooth.
Bluetooth issues plagued this unit from the start, and I could never get it to work right. Boss Audio has some Awesome products, but unfortunately for me,this was'nt one of them. I switched my Sony out that I had purchased a few months ago with this one so that I could have a cord free bluetooth set-up;but after about 6 weeks,I put my Sony back in,and have absolutely enjoyed having it back. The Boss Audio unit sounded nice, but it just did'nt do what it was bought for plain and simple. Also,I have to question the "high power" claim. My Sony does'nt claim that, but seems to put out more power with greater clarity. Just being honest.

Bluetooth is horrible and no persistent clock.
Shame on me. This is my second BOSS receiver and as with the other, Bluetooth is way glitchy. It will drop in the middle of listening to something driving down the road. It also has a very short range (like 20 feet). And finally, will drop the first part of whatever you start listening to. It's like this unit shuts down BT after a few seconds of no output. This isn't noticeable with music or podcasts but with GPS, you miss the first part of each direction. For example, if the directions say "turn left on Main Street", you miss the "turn left" instruction so then you have to take your eyes off the road to look and see what direction you're supposed to turn. Because the timeout seems to be 5 seconds or so, you're constantly missing the first second of each instruction. One solution is to have music playing through BT while you're using GPS, but why should we have to work around this nonsense??? BT is not voodoo. And finally, the clock. Why is there no way to have the clock stay on while the unit is on? This nuisance was present with my other BOSS unit I got 3 years ago. I was already going to give this unit 3 stars right out of the box for the fact customers have been complaining about this and BOSS ignores them. The BT issues make it unusable to me since I only listen to stuff through my phone.
